John grew up in Indianapolis. As a young boy, he loved singing sacred music. He became a regular on local radio shows singing soprano. He won several contests along the way. As an adult and trained baritone, John was a paid soloist at a funeral home and a series of churches in the midwest. Many of his childhood summers were spent on the farms of Aunts and Uncles. He went to George Washington High School where, freshman year, he met the love of his life. John graduated in 1947 and married Ailene in 1948. He served in the Air Force and was stationed in Cheyenne, WY and in Korea during the conflict. John tried his hand at several jobs before finding the Chamber of Commerce. As a Chamber director, he moved his family from Indianapolis to Wabash, IN to Lincoln, IL and then to Oak Park, IL. In 1977 he took a job with the American Society of Radiologic Technologists in Chicago, IL. At this time, he earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Northeastern Illinois University. When the association moved to Albuquerque, John went with them. He retired from ASRT in 1994. He served on and chaired the Paradise Hills Civic Association and the Paradise Hills Zoning Commission and volunteered at both Lovelace and Presbyterian Hospitals. John also became an avid housekeeper, chief cook, and bottle washer. His greatest joy in retirement was caring for his grandchildren. He was so very proud of all of them. Above all else, his love and devotion was for his partner and best friend, Ailene.
