Johnny Welch, Sr., 77, a resident of Farmington since 1957, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Life Care Center in Farmington. Johnny was born March 17, 1931, in Pass Christian, Mississippi, the son of James Welch and Elizabeth Miller Welch.
Johnny was a tire man and owned and operated "Johnny's Tires" for many years on East Main Street in Farmington. He was a musician and loved music and especially playing the piano. Johnny loved to go fishing with his family and friends. He also did a lot of volunteer work. Johnny also was affiliated with the Baptist church in the area for many years. He was a good, kind man with a huge heart; always there for his family and anyone in need, he also was a hard working man. Johnny will be greatly missed by all of his family, business associates and dear friends.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; son, Julian Jarrod Welch in 1999; brothers, Smokey Welch, Robert James Welch, Robert James Robinson and Louis Robinson; and by sisters, Lucille Gunn and Anna Mae Welch.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Gloria J. (Gonzales) Welch of Farmington; sons, Gabriel Welch and wife, Mary, of Farmington, Marvin Welch and wife, Jackie, of Santa Fe, Johnny Welch, Jr. and wife, Doreen, of Farmington, Paul Welch and Anthony Welch, both of Santa Fe, and Joe Welch of Farmington. He also is survived by 13 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.Johnny's services are entrusted to Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home
