Age 60, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016. He was born in Silver City, NM on June 23, 1956 to Jose R. Ortiz and Rita Ortiz.

Jose is survived by his wife, Angela Ortiz of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Sheila Garcia; son, Jose R. Ortiz III; granddaughter, Natalee Garcia; mother Rita Ortiz; sisters, Shirley Ortiz, Lorraine Ortiz; brother, David Ortiz; bird, Buddy; and two dogs, Angel and Odie.

Jose was an employee of Albuquerque Public School for 32 years. He was also assistant supervisor for five years. Jose enjoyed hunting, DYI projects, gardening, and coaching Little League Baseball. He was a member of the Optimist Club and was an accolate for the catholic church. Jose's favorite athlete was Mohammed Ali. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys.

Jose was a very hardworking, dedicated man who loved to laugh. Once he knew you, you'd be sure to have a nickname. Everyone in Jose's world had a nickname. He could always make you smile. Jose loved his sweets and oh boy, he loved to eat. We made the perfect pair. I loved to cook and he loved to eat. He was always the child inside the man. Gone too soon. We love you and you will be dearly missed.

Visitation and viewing will take place Monday, July 18, 2016, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Wyoming Chapel. Rosary will follow from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 20, 2016, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Parish, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. A reception will follow mass from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Parish. Inurnment will follow at 12:45 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
