Jose Manuel Valdez Jr, 82, passed away early Monday, May 22, 2017. After graduating in 1954 from El Rito High School NM Jose joined the Air Force. Jose met the love of his life, Rosely, in grammar school and they reconnected in 1958 after finishing active duty in the Air Force. Jose and Rosely were married July 23, 1960. In 1966 Jose joined the Knights of Columbus Lamy Council 4227 where he became very involved within the organization. While in the Knights of Columbus, Jose held every office in council and was appointed of several offices at the state level. He was the state ceremonial chairman for the major degrees with 186 classes. Surviving to cherish Jose’s memory are his wife of 57 years, Rosely; his children: Daniel, Lorie, and Angela; his grandchildren Danielle and Amber; his sister Barbra De Anda (Al De Anda), sister Connie Valdez (Louie), and brother Donald Valdez; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandma Elvira who raised him; mother Candelaria, and father Jose. A Visitation and Rosary will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. A Funeral Mass will be held May 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 on Friday, with reception following at the Knights of Columbus hall.
