Joseph A. Haag, 84, longtime resident of Farmington, NM, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the San Juan Regional Medical Center. He was born January 27, 1926 at Danbury, NE, the son of John and Nellie May (Thomas) Haag. He attended school at Danbury. He was drafted into the military during WWII and served in the 8th Army Air Corp, where he was on MP in the Kwajalein Islands, where he guarded the Atom bomb. On July 2, 1955, he married Helen Kempke of Superior, Nebraska. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation as a mechanic. They moved to Farmington, New Mexico in 1960. He later retired from the GSA Motor Pool. His hobby was auto restoration which he received many awards for the cars he had restored. He was a long time member of the 4 Corners Car Club. He was a life member of the Elks Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Leo, John and Virgil, one sister, Mary. He is survived by one brother Cyrus, of McCook, Nebraska, 3 sisters, Nellie Shay of Edmonds, Washington, Ida Nicholson of Cambridge, Nebraska, and Caroline Duron of Halstead, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
