Jaramillo, Joseph Alfonso
Devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the age of 84. He was born in Peteca, NM on March 27, 1932. He went to school in Alamosa, Colorado prior to enlisting in the Army in 1951. He was a Green Beret in the Special Forces until 1976 and served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retirement, he became an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 18 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Jaramillo; his children, Joseph Jaramillo (Gina), Vince Jaramillo, Victoria Lyle, Maria Asay (Ron); his sisters, Mary Peralta (Tony) and Frances Arviso; his grandchildren, Rebekah (Tony), Alicia, Stephanie (Cory), David, Jessica, Ronnie Jo, Tony, Amber, Milagra, and Rhiannon; his great-grandchildren Nikolas, Ema, Rhett, Isaiah, Jolene, Ralston, Daniel, and Mackenzie, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Arthur E. Jaramillo.
“You were given your life because you were strong enough to live it. You left behind a strength in all of your children that will be the foundation of our growth. As a Special Forces Master Sergeant, you were courageous. As a Federal Postal employee, you were successful. As a father and grandfather you were dependable. As a husband you were faithful and loving. And as a man, you were unstoppable!
Your unexpected departure from here has and will sadden so many but your arrival in the heavens above will give you peace and comfort. We love you so very much and missing you will always be a part of our lives”.
Burial service will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 501 North Guadalupe Street
