Moya, Joseph Bernard
Joseph Bernard Moya who was born on March 11, 1944 passed away on March 21, 2017 in Belen, NM at age 73. Survived by sons: Joseph Jr (Lorraine), Patrick, Raymond (Mary Lou), Carl Moya all of Albuquerque; one daughter Angela Moya-Mendez (Abel) of Los Lunas, NM; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren with two on the way; one brother, Robert Moya of Albuquerque; sisters: Rosemary Riboni (Ernest) of Albuquerque; Emma Moya of Albuquerque; Evangeline Chavez of La Mirada, CA; Elena Monnereau (Frans) of Irvine, CA; Marie Joan Renk of Albuquerque. Proceeding him in death are his parents, Amelia and Luis Moya of Old Town, Albuquerque (La Plaza Vieja); beloved granddaughter, Delilah Moya; Joseph was the tenth sibling to leave this earth, proceeding him are brothers: Louie, Ricardo, Freddie, Jimmy, Michael, Felipe, and baby Andrew Moya; also two baby sisters, Constance Betty Jean and Evelyn Carol Moya. Joseph was born in Old Town, Albuquerque, the descendant of the 1632 Trujillo (Trujillo Encomienda) Land Grant-who gave the land for construction of the first San Felipe Church in 1706 and also land for the second 1793 San Felipe Church; which had the original name of San Francisco Xavier. The name was changed during the Dominguez-Escalante expedition with Captain Miera y Pacheco in 1769 honoring King Phillip the second. Joseph loved singing and playing his guitar! He had a beautiful singing voice that will be tremendously missed. Rest now our daddy…until we meet again. Rosary will be held at San Felipe De Neri Church in Old Town Plaza, Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. with Mass following at 10:00 a.m. As cremation will be done, Burial will be at a later date. Reception after mass at San Jose De Los Duranes-2110 Los Luceros Rd N.W Albuquerque, NM.
