Joseph (Joey) was born March 7, 1952, to Ramon and Petrita Montoya in Socorro, NM. Joey was the youngest of 10 children. He was a dapper young man who frequently wore suits and ties. After graduating from Socorro High School, Joey then proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Barbey DE-1088. Joey married Diane Valenzuela, the two then had three children together: Patricia, Melisa, and Joseph.
Joey’s Love of music shined through his ability to play the guitar. He also had a love of the earth, for which he and his grandson, Panchi, started a greenhouse.
Joey is preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Petrita, his brothers; George, Phil, Herman, Leandro, and Abel, His sisters; Betty Giron, Judy Silva, and Emily Mathieu, and his grandchildren; Elijah Sandoval, Adilynn Montoya, and Nadia Contreras.
