Joseph Edgar Sberro

Sberro, Joseph Edgar Age 89, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013. He was a residence of Corrales, NM for the past 13 years and lived over 30 years in Annandale, VA. Joseph was born November 12, 1923 in New York, NY. He was preceded in death by his father, Jacques Sberro; mother, Marie L. Gale; brother, Lee Gale. Joseph is survived by his wife, Janet Churchill Sberro; children, Jacques and Sandy Sberro, Joan Sberro, Justin Nordstrom, Sandy Herman, Jennifer and Avi Zuares; nephew, Ricardo Gale; grandchildren, Michelle Sberro, Christina and James Boyles, Mark, Ben and Aaron Zuares; great-grandchildren, Layla & Amayah Sberro. Joseph graduated and received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Rochester. He was a WWII Veteran serving his country in the Army Air Corp, 457 Bomber Squadron. He was also a member of VFW NM Chapter 5432, Horacio Martinez Post. Joseph worked since the "dawn of computers" in the 1950's for; the Cancer Institute, the National Institute of Health, NASA and the National Weather Service. Some of Joe's favorite things have always been; traveling, concerts, opera, theater and most of all...FISHING!! Please note the picture of the huge salmon he caught in Alaska, and the wonderful smile on his face. As a younger man, he enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts in VA. As an older man, in NM, he helped organize a soccer league for the Pueblo and Navajo children. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 20, 2013, Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Road Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Inichment with Military Honors will follow at 11:00 am in Vista Verde Memorial Park.
