Joseph Sousa

Joseph F. Sousa, 76, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1982, passed away August 9, 2024. Joseph was a one-of-a-kind and will be terribly missed by those who loved him. 

Joseph is survived by his wife Colleen of 43 years, and his daughter Victoria (Andrew); and daughter Jessica; Grandchildren; Vivian, Tiffany, Alyson, Lucas, Makenna and Andrew. Siblings; Barbara Slater (Ed), Don Sousa, Fran Benn, many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces. 

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Francesca, and his grand-daughter Jessica. 

Joseph was born in Jamaica Queens, New York. As a teen Joseph, participated in high school sports and was proud to be a straight A student. Joseph volunteered for the draft, and was sent to Vietnam, where he volunteered to stay for a 2nd Tour. Joseph was very proud to be a Vietnam Veteran. After discharge, he utilized the GI Bill, and became a registered nurse. Joseph and Colleen left their home state of New York, built their life, and raised their daughters in Rio Rancho. Joseph knew how to keep everyone smiling. If his family was happy, he was happy, and that is all that mattered. Joseph provided guidance, unconditional support, and unwavering love for his family.
