Josephine “Jo” Marie Friedt
October 28, 1937 – March 17, 2021
Josephine was born on October 28, 1937 in Regent, North Dakota and she went to be with the Lord and Blessed Mother on March 17, 2021 in Grants, New Mexico. She married Victor Friedt on November 16, 1954 in Regent, North Dakota and moved to Grants, New Mexico on February 14, 1967 with her husband and family.
Rosary and Funeral Services for Josephine Marie Friedt 83, of Grants, New Mexico will be held on Friday April 23, 2021 – 9:30 AM at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Private burial will follow at the Grants Memorial Park. Rev. John Paul Sauter will be the celebrant.
Through the years, she worked in multiple capacities within the service industry and retired in 1999. Her greatest interests were faith, family, baking, plants, hummingbirds, and reading; with the greatest joy being her family. She was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, mom, and ‘Nanny’ to her family. She welcomed all with open arms and was a mother to everyone who entered her loving home, and no one ever left hungry. Her happiest days were spent surrounded by her family.
She is survived by Seven Children: Vicki Friedt of Grants, NM, Allan Friedt of Grants, NM, Pam Friedt of Grants, NM, Debbie Johnson and husband Steve of Albuquerque, NM, Cindy Alires and husband Gary of Grants, NM, Arnie Friedt and wife Joyce of Ute Park, NM and Arnell Friedt and wife Nicole of Rio Rancho, NM; Nine Grandchildren: Melissa, Eric and wife Jessica, Allan Edward, Justin, Jordan, Dylan, Joshua, Isabella and Alexander; Two Great-grandsons: Matthew and Maverick; Siblings: sister Lena (& John) White and brother David Greff and wife Jackie.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Victor Friedt; Son Arlan Friedt; Grandson Arlan Lee Friedt; Parents: Gabriel and Mary Greff; Sisters: Elizabeth Greff and Mary Reese; Brothers: Gabe Greff, Joseph Greff, Mike Greff, Clement Greff, Godfrey Greff, Tony Greff, Frank Greff, Adam Greff, Louie Greff, and Paul Greff.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Josephine’s memory can be made to St. Joseph’s Mission School in San Fidel, New Mexico (www.stjosephmissionschool.com) or St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain, South Dakota (www.stjo.org).
