Joshua Keith Smith was born on October 6, 1984, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Barbara Ann and James Smith. He grew up in the town of Bernalillo, where you can still hear about the mischief he got into. As an adult he never lived too far from home, making sure he was still near his family.
Josh was a father, a great father to his four boys. He loved his boys with everything he had. Always wanting to be a better man for them.
Josh was son. He was an amazing son. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his mama and papa. He was his mamas favorite, to her he could never do wrong. He was the “Richie’ to her, and everyone knew that.
Josh was a brother, a pain in the butt at times but he was a great brother. He loved to argue with his sisters, he knew exactly how to get under their skin and trust me he did it on purpose.
Josh was an uncle and if you ask his nieces and nephews, he was a cool uncle. He loved them as much as his own children. There wasn't a time that he wouldn't show up if they needed him.
Josh was a dreamer, and he had big dreams. He had the dream to own and operate his own business and he built that business from the ground up. He was so proud of how successful it had quickly become. Everyone knew if they needed a window replacement or a chip repair, he was the man for the job.
Josh was also a stubborn man, but at least he wasn't as stubborn as his father. There were things that we would not agree on but the one thing that brings so much peace right now is that he finally decided to get rebaptized in his faith in December of 2023.
Josh touched some many lives with simply just being the kind and caring soul that he was. His smile could light up any room and boy could that man talk your ear off. He could talk to strangers as if he had known them for years. He was truly likable and lovable. Something that I was always so jealous of but also so proud of.
He had so much love for his family and friends. He will be missed and remembered by all who knew him. His family hopes he is riding alongside his dad, taking time to fish with his brother-in-law and singing with his nana.
Josh, on the day you left us, a piece of our heart went too. But we bask in each new dawn, because now we live for not only us, but now we live for you.
On March 16th, 2024, at the age of 39, Josh breathed his last breath on earth and took his first breath in heaven. May the one who bore it all for us, hold you in his arms today. This is not goodbye; it is until we meet again.
Joshua was predeceased by his father, his nana, and his brother-in-law. He is survived by his wife Megan Smith, sons Jesse Smith, Dominic Smith, Ethan Smith, Clayton Smith: his mother Barbara Finley, and dad William Finley: his sisters Yolanda Smith, Roxxanne Smith, Stephanie Smith and Mollie Mixon Devenbaugh; and his nieces and nephews, Alana Mora, Antonio Mora, Jada Jacks, Kaila Gutierrez, Braxton Lovel, Isaac Anchondo, Vivian Smith, Landon Devenbaugh, Brody Devenbaugh and Kolten Devenbaugh.
