Joyce Cline

July 29, 1937 — November 4, 2008

Joyce Cline, 71, of Kirtland, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at San Juan Regional Medical Center. Joyce was born on July 29, 1937 in Perryton, Texas to Melvin and Jennie Anderson. In 1952, Joyce moved with her parents to Shiprock, New Mexico, where her father worked at the helium plant. She graduated from Kirtland Central High School in 1955 and then went on to spend a year at Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Joyce married her high-school sweetheart, Jack E. Cline, in 1957, and they settled in the Fruitland area to raise their three children. Joyce worked at the Kirtland Junior High School for many years and fondly remembered the students she met over the years and the teachers she worked with. In 1972, Jack and Joyce spent a vacation in Alaska and loved it so much they moved their family to Soldotna, Alaska that summer. Joyce helped manage several businesses during her time in Alaska and was voted "Woman of the Year" for her contributions to the community. Joyce was also instrumental in forming a Rainbow Girls assembly in Soldotna and was later named Mother Advisor. Joyce was vivacious, out-going, and loved to be on-the-go. She loved to shop, especially with her daughters and grand-daughters. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling with Jack in their motor-home. One of the greatest joys of her life were her grandchildren, whom she spoiled rotten and loved every minute of it! Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Jennie Anderson. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Jack E. Cline of Kirtland; son Andy Cline of New Orleans, Louisiana; daughter Cristi and her husband Johnny Smith of Farmington; daughter Carri and husband Joe MacDonald of Anthem, Arizona; grandchildren: Lauren Cline, Nick Smith, Jamie Smith, and Jake MacDonald; cousins Dick, Dave, and Suzie, as well as several nieces and nephews. Joyce will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved here over the years. Those who wish to send condolences may do so at www.danielsfuneral.com. Joyce is in the care of: Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home 103 E. Ute Street Farmington, NM (505) 325-8688
