Joyce Florez

Joyce Florez, a loving wife, mother, grammy, and friend passed away on May 21, 2021 in Rio Rancho, NM at the age of 56.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Raul Florez of Rio Rancho, NM; sons, Joseph Trujillo and wife, Amanda Ramirez of Albuquerque, NM and Gabriel Trujillo and wife, Angela Trujillo of Rio Rancho, NM; sister, Annette Medina of Los Lunas, NM; mother, Elvira Montoya of Los Lunas, NM; grandchildren, Andrea, Zack, Dese, Gabby, Gabe, Cristian, Valentina, Elena, and Emma; and her pets, Coco and Dalila. She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Barela; her son, Andrew Romero; and her brother, Silviano Garcia.

Joyce was born on July 18, 1964 in Albuquerque, NM to Thomas Barela and Elvira Montoya. On September 29, 1994 she married the love of her life, Raul Florez. She had three beautiful children, Joseph, Gabriel, and Andrew. Joyce and Raul set about teaching them to love and care for one another. Her children remember her as a loving, gentle, and kind mother who always encouraged them to pursue their dreams.

She loved baking specialty cakes and often baked for her family and friends. Joyce was a generous and creative individual who loved crafting, sewing, party planning, and resin cup making. She loved planting flowers and taking care of them. Her greatest love and gift was being the best grammy to her nine grandchildren. Her devotion to God and her family was one of her best qualities. She would do anything for her loved ones and always had good intentions. She will be deeply missed by her husband, family, friends and all who knew her.

A celebration of her life will be held privately.
