Holguin, Juanita Parra Age 83, pass away Friday, December 27, 2013 in Rio Rancho, NM. Juanita was born in Hatch, NM and raised in Santa Clara, �Central� NM. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Sarah Parra; husband, Arthur R. Holguin; son, Edward G. Holguin; sisters, Esparanza Trujillo, Rufina Alerez; brothers, Alejandro Parra, Benito Parra, Fernando Parra, Nestor Parra, and Alfredo Parra. Juanita is survived by her son, Robert A. Holguin; grandchildren, Erik Holguin, Arianna F. Holguin, and Brandon J. Holguin as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She worked thirty-years for Civil Service most notably at White Sands Missile Range and Holloman Air Force Base. She obtained the position of Staffing Specialist in the Personnel Management Office where she enjoyed her career assisting many to obtain employment with the Federal Government. She enjoyed giving to others continuously with no strings attached. She obtain numerous awards and certificates for her exceptional accomplishments for her duties. Juanita was a dedicated civil servant. She served the government at Holloman AFB and White Sands Missile Range. She was a pioneer because she earned much success at a time when the glass ceiling was unbreakable. Juanita was a very generous person but she was an even more generous person with her family and extended family. She was like Santa Claus at Christmas time. She lovingly made sure that she had a gift for each and every one of the children, making all of them feel special on holidays. She was a magnificent wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.Juanita and Arthur were married for sixty-three years never leaving each other�s side. Juanita and Arthur were devote Catholics and were members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Las Cruces for over thirty-four years where they made their home prior to moving to Rio Rancho for the last two and a half years. Juanita graduated from Saint Mary�s Academy in Silver City, NM in 1949. A Rosary and prayer vigil, led by Deacon Bill Holguin, will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 3, 2013 with the Funeral Mass, led by Monsignor Douglas Raun, to follow at 10:30 am, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Graveside services, led by Deacon Bill Holguin, will be at 9:00 am, Saturday, January 4, 2012 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 West Picacho Avenue, Las Cruces, NM. Pallbearers will be Michael Parra, Alfred Parra, Steve Parra, and James Parra. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Acosta. Juanita will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
