Judith A Gerald

October 12, 1950 — October 15, 2015

Judith Ann Gerald
Judith Ann Gerald, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away on October 14, 2015, following a heroic battle with cancer. She was born in Maryville, TN on October 12, 1950 and grew up on the banks of the Ohio River in Coraopolis, PA. In her mid- teens Judy and her family moved to the suburbs of Chicago, IL where she attended and graduated from high school. Soon thereafter she headed west, ending up in Albuquerque, NM and never left.

Judy knew life intimately because she loved many things...gardening, dancing, cooking Thanksgiving dinner each year for extended family and her many friends, working out at the gym, traveling the world with her beloved husband, yard work, volunteering, cheering on the New Mexico Lobos and spending time at the Conchas lake house. Her greatest joy, however, was her granddaughter Kiera.

Judy worked for Mountain Bell/Qwest for 28 years before she retired in 1999. She served as a union steward for the Communications Workers of America and was very active in the Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post 19. In retirement Judy devoted herself to important, heartfelt causes such as the Wounded Warriors Project and played an integral role in building the family  carpet and tile business. Her energy, determination and vast contributions will be sorely missed.

Judy met her husband Lanny on October 26, 1975 and, following a whirlwind romance, married on February 12, 1977. Their son, Lanny Jr., was born November 15, 1977.

Judy Gerald was a happy person who enjoyed life to its fullest. She will be remembered as a beautiful women, inside and out, strong willed and independent, a person who gave love as good as she received it. She had a passion and zest for life that took her from New Orleans to New Zealand, from the Carribean and dancing with dolphins to Paris, the French Rivera and all points in between. She lived life large. Today there is an emptiness in the lives of those she touched that it seems can never be filled.

Judy was preceded in passing by her parents, Bill and Margaret Sabo and her brother Bill Jr. (Bim). She is survived by husband, Lanny Gerald Sr.; son, Lanny Gerald Jr.; Granddaughter, Kiera; sister, Bonnie Dinham.

A celebration of Judy's life will take place on one of her most favorite days of the year, Halloween, October 31, 2015 at 2:00 pm, Daniels Family  Funeral  Services - Wyoming Chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
