Julian Aragon was born in Peralta to parents Eduardo Aragon and Josefita Lucero. Growing up in Martineztown, he learned to be self-sufficient and hardworking, and in adulthood he was employed by and retired early from the New Mexico State Highway Department. His marriage to Aurora Duran represented a love that would last a lifetime.
Sometimes a man of few words, sometimes a prankster who just wanted to get a laugh from loved ones, Julian was beloved to many. He and Aurora used to go camping and fishing often and never passed up time at the casino. They truly valued their many longtime South Valley neighbors. Julian also enjoyed fixing vehicles, collecting tools and parts, and gardening (his lemon cucumbers and apricots are fondly remembered). One of the truly special things about Julian was that he had great love and patience for every child he came across. He will be dearly missed.
Julian was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings Frances, Casimiro, Eddie, Charlie, and Danny. He is survived by his daughter Mary Arellano, grandchildren Jose I. Arellano Jr. and Elizabeth Candelaria, great-grandchildren Jaylene Arellano and Orlando Candelaria, youngest brother Manuel Aragon, nephew Paul Manuel, nieces Frances and Alberta, great-nephew Sebastian, and great-niece Reina.
Though our parting with Julian was sudden, we find peace in knowing he is with his Aurora once more. Until we all meet again.
