Julie Andra Serna (Gonzales)

Julie Andra Serna (Gonzales) 42, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013 in Stafford County, Virginia. She was born in Socorro, NM on October 2, 1970 to Rey and Maryetta (Baca) Serna. Julie spent all of her childhood here in Socorro. She was always athletic and very outgoing. She graduated from Socorro High School, Class of 1989. Julie earned her Bachelor's degree in Human Performance and Business from NM Highlands University. She resided in Las Cruces for a brief time before moving to Virginia. Julie had such a genuine heart, always serving and truly loving others. She was of a Strong Catholic Faith and continually trusted in the Lord's Wisdom to lead her day by day. Julie always looked for the good in people and was always able to see the silver lining in times of struggle. She was so loving, giving of herself, faithful, forgiving, and had a way about her that was pure devotion to caring and supporting others. Julie never met a stranger, she was friends with anyone she ever met. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. She loved to sing and you can see her witty sense of humor in her beautiful boys, who were her life. Julie will always be remembered and admired for her beautiful smile and heart. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Terry Baca; and Ray and Mary Serna; and her great grandmother, Julianita P. Serna. Julie is survived by her loving parents, Rey and Maryetta Serna of Socorro; her devoted sister, Allegra Lujan and husband, Isaac; her beautiful children, Christopher and Aiden Gonzales; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other loving family members and many close friends. A Holy Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 7:00 pm at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10:00 am also at San Miguel Catholic Church with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Inurnment will take place in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers are Danny Baca, Robert James Baca, Evan Ray Chavez, Vincent Robert Chavez, Julian Serna, Joe E. Baca, and Bobby Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers are Christopher and Aiden Gonzales, the Socorro High School Class of 1989 and all those that loved Julie.
