Karen M. Hendricks

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen M. Hendricks who died peacefully on September 11, 2020.  Karen had such an amazingly special spirit. She brightened everyones lives with her humor, kind heart, and generosity.  She was the go to person for anyone in need, no matter what that was.   She looked at life with a tremendous sense of humor and brought that to any situation.  She always put a smile on your face and laughter in your heart.  She worked hard to make sure everyone felt special and loved.  She will be greatly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her.

Karen's greatest love was her son Kevin, and her grandchildren, Penelope, Sophia, Brody, and Jaxon.  She also loved every dog that was lucky enough to be her pet.  She loved music, especially the Beatles, though she was very knowledgeable about all music and could win most name that tune competitions.

Karen also had a strong work ethic and worked for many years in payroll at Genesis Healthcare.  In the past she also worked for PNM and West Coast Sound. I don't think a day went by that she was unemployed and it was a rare day that she took off.  

Karen was a fighter! She has been battling several types of cancer, and winning, for the last 6 years! She battled with strength, humor, and most of all a positive attitude! She is truly a person to be admired and respected, an inspiration to all who might also someday have to face the same battle.  We love you Karen, thanks for being a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend.

Karen leaves behind, her son Kevin Hendricks and his wife Jennifer, Her grandchildren Penelope Hendricks-Montes, Sophia Hendricks-Montes, Brody Hendricks, and Jaxon Hendricks.  Her sisters Donna Chicago, Shirley Hammond, and Roberta Wright, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her services will be held graveside on October 9, 2020 at 11:00am at Vista Verde Memorial Park. 4310 Sara Road, SE.  Rio Rancho, NM 87124.  There will be a potlock reception at a nearby park (to be announced) after the services.   In lieu of flowers, Karen requested that donations be made to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, or dog charity of your choice.
