Karl D Beasley

Beasley, Karl Delano 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in Socorro, NM with his wife at his side. He was born in Wheelersburg, OH on December 13, 1933 to George D. and Phyllis Opal (Schneider) Beasley. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his only sibling, Harold. Karl grew up on the family farm in Waverly, OH. After high school graduation, Karl enlisted with the United States Army during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. After proudly serving his country for 17 years (including National Guard), Karl was honorably discharged in 1979. Karl joined the El Paso, Tx Police Force in the 1960's. There, he became a member of the Masonic Lodge and the NRA. After 20 dedicated years of service, Karl retired in 1986 and even though he loved being a Texan he then moved to Magdalena, NM. He was the Magdalena Marshal from 1989-1990 and also served as municipal judge for two terms. Karl was always committed to protecting the public and in 1998, 2002, and 2006, he ran for Socorro County Sheriff. He loved old cowboy movies and even worked as an extra in several movies in Santa Fe, NM in the 1990's. Karl became a resident of The Socorro Good Samaritan Village in July of 2012. Before his health declined, he enjoyed living in the country and was an owner of a horse ranch. He was a very skilled rider and trainer. Karl was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Patricia Beasley of Magdalena; his daughter Sheryl Meador and husband, Gary and their children, Samantha and Dustin all of Texas; and many close friends. A Memorial Service to celebrate and honor Karl's life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Magdalena Community Church, 306 S. Main St. Magdalena with Rev. Woody Peabody officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions and donations may be given in Karl's honor to Socorro Good Samaritan Society, PO Box 1279, Socorro, NM 87801.
