Katherine Faye Caldwell

Katherine Faye Caldwell (Sanford) left this world to join her beloved husband and sister on June 2nd, 2021 at the age of 69.

 

Katherine was born December 16th 1951, to parents Amy Phelps and Samuel Sanford in New Orleans, but raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Together, Amy and Samuel had 8 children; 7 girls and 1 boy. Katherine lived with her older sister, Wilma, on and off throughout her childhood. She and her sister were thick as thieves up until Wilma left to be with her Lord in 2013.

 

Katherine moved to Albuquerque, NM at the age of 16 to join job corps. While here in Albuquerque, she met the love of her life, Raymond Caldwell. They married, had 2 beautiful children, Raymond and Debritt Caldwell and raised a family together. After being married for 24 years, Raymond left to his heavenly home in 1994. Katherine never remarried, for she always said, Raymond was her one and only true love.

 

Katherine worked as a security guard for many years until becoming a loving, nurturing caregiver for the elderly. Katherine worked 16 years as a caregiver. Her clients and colleagues loved working with her. Her granddaughter, Samantha, would often go to work with Katherine, which taught her the skills she would one day need to care for her grandmother. Katherine lived and was taken care of by her granddaughter for 9 years before her daughter, Debritt, took over care.

 

For those who knew Katherine, she is described as a strong, loving, caring, sweet woman with a heart of gold. She always opened her home and heart to anyone in need. She was a forgiving woman and loved everyone that entered her life, especially her family. She is survived by her 2 prized possessions, her kids, Raymond and Debritt Caldwell, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is loved and will be deeply missed.
 

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., God's House Church, 2335 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 10:30 a.m., Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM.
