Katherine Sasaki, 84, of Farmington formerly of Chicago passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Bridge Assisted Living of Farmington, NM. Katherine was born March 26, 1927 in Portland, Oregon the daughter of John Genroku Kido and Shiye Uyera. Katherine was a compassionate and talented woman. She received her master’s degree in teaching and taught elementary through high school for 26 years. Katherine also headed the gifted music education program. She taught the Suzuki method for violin and was a gifted violinist. Music was her passion. She touched many students’ lives through music. Katherine conducted orchestra for the summer music program at Senn High School in Chicago, Illinois. She was the oldest violinist in Northbrook Symphony Orchestra in Northbrook, Illinois where she played for almost 15 years. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a rare and beautiful rose who will be missed dearly. We appreciate the good care our mom received from her caregivers Eleanor Dawes & Trudi Attson, & the staff of the Bridge of Farmington; thank you for your kindness. Katherine was preceded in death in 2009 by her loving, attentive husband (& the best father) of well over 50 years, Eddie T. Sasaki. She is survived by her son John Sasaki and his wife Christine of Southern California, daughter Nina Sasaki of Farmington and Durango, Colo; sister Mary Enta of Lincolnwood, Illinois; 4 grandchildren whom she dearly loved; nieces/nephew Ellen,Laura, David Sasaki and Julie Oishi, and many dear relatives & friends. Cremation will take place and memorial services will be held Wednesday evening, July 20, 2011 at 6 pm at The Bridge Assisted Living in Farmington, 1091 W. Murray Drive, Farmington.
