Kathleen Quigley Miller

June 10, 1903 — September 6, 2008

MILLER - Kathleen Quigley Miller was 105 years old when she passed away September 6, 2008. She was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia on June 10, 1903, spent her adolescence in Portland, Oregon, and moved to Los Angeles in 1920 where she and her older brother worked in the movie industry. Her true vocation was sewing. After serving with the National Youth Administration and Army Air Forces as a parachute inspector and power sewing instructor during the Second World War, she developed a line of children's clothing which she ran from her shop in Beverly Hills. Nearing retirement age, she began a new career as a sewing instructor. She was a lifelong active participant in the Episcopal Church and attended the centennial celebration of St. Mary's Church in Los Angeles last October. Since moving to Albuquerque in 1980, she was an active member of St. John's Cathedral and volunteered once a week at the St. John's Thrift Shop. As her eyesight failed, she also turned to knitting and was thrilled to participate in the Linus Project. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Charlie Steen, her granddaughter Anne Steen, her granddaughter and husband Margaret and Thomas Guldborg, great granddaughters Natalie and Danielle Guldborg, and grandniece Mary McGowan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John's Thrift Shop. Arrangements and services are entrusted to:
