Kathleen Woody

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T Schubert, age 81, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack Woody. They met each other in 1942 when they were in the 5th grade. Survivors also include her children, Jack Woody Jr. and partner Josh, William Woody and wife Tracy, Carol Woody and husband Joel, Bob Woody and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Bryan James, Stephen, Ashley, Shelby, Elisa, Emily; siblings, Fred, Kirk, and Pamela. Kathleen graduated from the High School of Music and Art and received a scholarship to attend Barnard College in New York. She graduated from the University of Nevada and earned an MA as a Reading Specialist from Laverne University in California. Kathleen recognized reading as a foundational skill for a child's future success. She taught elementary school in Nevada, Virginia and New Mexico. Kathleen was a fifth grade teacher at Carlos Rey Elementary School and a Reading Specialist at Mountain View Elementary School, where she later became the Principal. Kathleen was an avid reader, and also loved to travel to Europe with her sister Dorothy and daughter Carol. After retirement, Kathleen traveled with her husband to Central America.
