On Saturday, April 23, 2011, in Las Cruces, Kelly Stagen made a permanent change of her address to HEAVEN. She was born March 26, 1964, in Carbondale, Ill., to Gary and Lynn Stagen.
Kelly was preceded in death by her father, Gary Stagen; by her paternal grandparents, Ida and Ralph Stagen; and by her maternal grandfather, Olyer Norsworthy.
She is survived by her mother, Lynn Brumbaugh, and her maternal grandmother, Winnie Norsworthy, both of Farmington; her daughter, Ashley Standifer and son, Tyler Standifer, both of Las Cruces; her brother, Neil Stagen, his wife, Jennifer, and children, Emma Rose and Joshua David of Albuquerque; and precious grandchildren, Joseph, Iris, Kayla, Chayce, Bailey, Kayden and Caytelynn, all of Las Cruces. Kelly is a FHS graduate, a SJC graduate and a UNM graduate. She received her MS in Social Work from NMSU in 1997, and later received advanced licensing. Her career spanned service at La Clinicia de Familia in Las Cruces and at the Veterans Administration where she counseled our veterans with PTSD. She had been an active member of Rolling Thunder, a group protecting our fallen soldiers' funeral services and gravesites. Kelly was a lover of her family and of their traditions. She especially adored her grandchildren who called her "Lita."
Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the church where Kelly formerly was a member, Emmanuel Baptist Church, 211 W. 20th St. in Farmington. Pastor Tim Hargrove of Piñon Hills Community Church will officiate.
Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Tyler Standifer, Neil Stagen, Tommi Matton, Jimmie Vance, David Standifer and Joey Kellenaers. Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home
