Kenneth John Valovcin

Kenneth John Valovcin lived a full life, then passed away at the family home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on Wednesday, February 26, attended by his brother Tom.  Born and raised in New Jersey, Ken graduated from John P. Stevens High School in Edison, class of 1966, where he had participated in track and field, as well as played trumpet in the band.  He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1970, from Newark College of Engineering.  In the 1980's, he received his Master of Management degree from the University of New Mexico.

Ken worked as an electrical engineer and in sales, for various companies, and made his home in such places as New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and South Carolina.  He was a member of the Rio Rancho Elks Lodge #2500, and the American Legion Post 118, also in Rio Rancho.

He is survived by two children:  Eric Valovcin and Ashley Ferri, and one granddaughter, Brynn, all of Columbia, South Carolina; and by three siblings:  Lorelei Koschade and Tom Valovcin (both of Rio Rancho, NM) and Claudia Baker (of Flagstaff, AZ).  His life was enriched by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Anne Valovcin, of Rio Rancho, NM.

Anyone who knew Ken, would recall that he could tell jokes non-stop longer than anyone else.  Rather than mourn his death, he would prefer that those whose lives he touched, celebrate his life.  When among the like-minded, raise a glass to Ken in remembrance of he impact he had on many.
