Kenneth Watchman Sr. died May 8, 2011 in Phownix, Arizona. Watchman was born February 10, 1931, in Chinle, Arizona. He was born into the Red Meets the Water People Clan and born for the Coyote Pass People Clan. Watchman was a lifetime resident of Chinle and he retired as a tour guide for the Canyon De Chelly National Monument. His hobbies included visiting with friends, meeting new people, and spending time with family. He loved guiding tourists into Canyon De Chelly and he was very proud of serving his country. Watchman was an infantryman with the United States Army. Survivors include his sons, Franklin Tsosie, Kenneth Watchman Jr., Kevin Watchman (all of Chinle), Arnold Watchman, of Phoenix; daughters, Rita Totsoni, Juanita Rena, Roselinda and Carmelita Watchman (all of Chinle); brothers, Tullery Watchman, of Sawmill, Joe Sr., Denny Sr., and John Watchman (all of Chinle), Yazzie Lewis, of Salina, Oklahoma; and his sister, June Ann Totsoni, 24 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Watchman is preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Watchman; and his parents, Robert Lewis and Dorothy Watchman. Pallbearers include Fabian Watchman, Leander Watchman, Kevin Watchman, Nathaniel Tsosie, Franklin Tsosie, and Belerentino Yazzie. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Rita Totsoni Residence, located one mile south of the Tseyi Overlook in Chinle, Arizona.
