GRONEMAN_Kiven R. Groneman, 58, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Monday evening, March 23, 2009 after a battle with cancer. Kiven was born July 21, 1950 the son of Dorothy and Orville Groneman in San Antonio, Texas. He grew up in Vega, TX, graduating from Vega High School in 1968. He played trumpet in the Vega High School band and worked in service stations along Route 66. He worked in his father's Gulf Station as a young boy and later at the Whiting Brothers station. Kiven left Vega and attended the University of New Mexico for three years, studying English and Journalism. He worked in the construction of I-40 and later became a land surveyor, working for such companies as Matotan, CinFran Engineering, and SurvTek, Inc. He surveyed much of Rio Rancho, NM, during the housing boom. He liked fishing at Bluewater Lake and keeping up with politics on the internet. Kiven had a sharp eye and a keen, dry wit. He is survived by his wife, Julie J. Groneman; two children, Tara and Ian Groneman; his mother, Dorothy Fields; one sister, Orvilla Allred; niece, Cari Allred, and her children, Belicia, Brennan, and Brighton; and nephew Doug Cavin; and all the many good friends a man collects throughout the course of his life. We will all miss him dearly. Arrangements are entrusted to
