Lala Lucero, age 94, of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015. She was born on April 18, 1921 in Alameda, NM.
Mrs. Lucero was a creative doll maker whose artistic creations were much in demand. She was also a talented storyteller, and her stories and dischos captivated the attention of her family and friends. She is survived by her only son, David Lucero and wife, Hilda Lucero; her four grandchildren, Bernadette Lucero-Turner, Barbara Marquez and husband, Richard Marquez, David Lucero Jr and wife, Gina Lucero, and Paul Lucero and wife, Marsha Lucero; her brothers Romeo Duran and wife, Betty, Charlie Duran and wife, Lilian; her sisters, Ruth Santillanes and husband, Elifas Santillanes, Ocariz West, Marcella Lucero and husband, Placido; her seven great grandchildren, Alexandra Marquez, Victoria Marquez, Richard Marquez, David Lucero III, Antonia Marquez, and Michael Lucero; one great-great grandchild, Elaina Lucero. Lala is preceded in death by her husband Alex Lucero; and her daughter, Charlotte Duran. A Rosary will be held on September 28, 2015 at 6:30 pm at Daniels Family Funeral ~ Carlisle Chapel, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Funeral Mass will be held on September 29 at 9:00am at St. Therese Little Flower Church in Albuquerque, NM. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Marquez Sr., Richard Marquez Jr., Anthony Garcia, Chris West, Ricky Santillanes and Jason Armijo. Honorary pallbearer will be Alexandra Marquez. The family wishes to give a special thank you to Merian Jurado, Diane Torres, and Heritage Hospice for their wonderful care.
Honoring Lala’s request, no reception will be held following the burial.
