Lance Cpl. Terry L. Martin II

Lance Cpl. Terry L. Martin II, 23, of Farmington, departed for paradise on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, while on active duty in Okinawa, Japan. He was born Sept. 11, 1987, in Phoenix, Ariz. Terry enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in February 2009. On Oct. 2, 2009, he graduated at the top of his class of 653 recruits, as Company Honorman, achieving the rank of lance corporal. He proposed to his soul mate in June 2010, and he and Emilee were married on Oct. 19, in Okinawa, Japan. He was honest, faithful and compassionate; an upstanding Marine, respected and loved by all who served with him. Left to carry out his dreams are the love of his life Emilee (Bates) Martin, his stepdaughter, Angeleena; his mother, Astrud (Mark) Jones; brother, Joshua; sister, Isis; stepsister, Perry Jones;grandmother, Patsy (Pat) Velarde; and great-grandmother, Teresa Easterling, all of Farmington; grandfather, Arturo Galeano of Oceanside, Calif.; Emilee's mother, Tawnya Yarbro of Clovis; Emilee's stepfather, Nathan Yarbro of Durango, Colo.; Emilee's brothers, Riley and Oren Bates, both of Bloomfield; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Terry was an amazing man. Intelligent, handsome, charming and fun. He won the hearts of everyone with whom he came in contact. He loved his wife deeply, cherished his family and served his country with honor, courage and commitment. He will be truly missed and never far from thought. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington St. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington. A memorial service will be held at Three Rivers Banquet Hall, 101 E. Main St. in Farmington, for close friends and family, immediately following the graveside service.
