Smith, Larry Lee Age 83, passed away at home in Loveland, Colorado, on Friday, April 27th, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer��?�s disease. Larry was born on August 18, 1928, in Lawrence, KS, to Cecil and Mildred Smith. Larry graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka, KS, and went on to college at Washburn University in Topeka. He met Arlene Snell in high school, and they were married September 10, 1948. Larry joined the US Army and served stateside during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the Army, he finished his college studies at Washburn University. He worked for Cessna aircraft in Wichita. Larry and Arlene had two daughters, Tonia and Shari while in Wichita. In the late ��?60��?�s, they moved to Albuquerque, NM, where he worked for the Federal Government. Later, they moved to Los Alamos, and Larry worked as a contracts administrator for the Department of Energy. He retired from that position in 1992, and they moved to Paradise Hills in Albuquerque. Larry and Arlene were members of the St. Paul��?�s United Church of Christ in Rio Rancho. They moved to Loveland, CO, in 2009, to be closer to grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry is survived by his wife, Arlene B. Smith; daughters, Tonia L. Price (David M.) of Loveland, CO, Shari E. Hoyt (David R.) of Allen, TX; grandsons, Joshua Price of Fort Collins, CO, Tyler Price of Denver, CO, Zachary Hoyt of Allen, TX; granddaughter, Traci Estrada of Loveland, CO; great-granddaughters, Kiyana Price, Shailee Estrada, and Kaleah Estrada of Loveland, CO; brothers, Galen Smith of Xenia, OH, and Karl Smith of Topeka, KS.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Road Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Interment will follow the services at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer��?�s Association.
