CHAVEZ, LAURA Laura Chavez "Nanny Noonie to her family, was born on September 7, 1924 in the Village of Corrales, NM and went to be with our Lord August 4, 2012. Laura was a lifelong resident of Corrales. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Cook, widowed; her brothers and sisters, Augustine Chavez and wife Annie, Gusto Chavez and wife Nancy Greer, Agnes Hester, Isabel Wilder, Rita Baldonado, Martha Lucero and husband Amadeo; daughter-in-law and caretaker, Patricia Cook, wife of Carey Cook; grandchildren, Charlie Cook, Karen Rael, Kenneth and Nicole Cook, David and Michele Cook, Michael and Angela Cook, Adam and Heather Wright; her many great-grandchildren. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Rosita Chavez; her beloved son, Charles Carey Cook; sister, Rosita Silva; brother, Salomon Chavez. Laura was a successful career woman, working in the medical industry as a Registered Nurse for over 51 years until her retirement. "Nannie will be fondly remembered as a loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She provided a special place in Corrales for all her family to gather and spend endless summers enjoying her company in the yard. She will be dearly missed. A Viewing and Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm, Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Road Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM.
