Laura Jean Fischer Reed
Laura Jean Fischer Reed passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness on
Monday, July 20, 2015 at her home in Sandia Park, NM. She is survived by her husband, Evangelos Coutsias, her mother, Margaret June Fischer of Albuquerque, NM and her brothers, Donald Fischer of Ashville, NC and Gordon Fischer of Kansas City, KS. Laura was a 36 year resident of the Albuquerque area where she worked as a Physical therapist at St. Joseph Hospital and NM Orthopedic Associates, eventually opening her own practice. Starting in 1996 she served in the New Mexico Board of Physical Therapy where she was instrumental in promoting patient’s rights. Her interest in the mechanics of the human body led her to a second degree in Mechanical Engineering, graduating suma cum laude from UNM at 2006. Laura was a lover of the outdoors and a strong advocate of environmental stewardship. Her beautiful soul will be greatly missed by family and friends. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 2:00 pm, Daniels Family Funeral, Carlisle Chapel, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110.
