Lavella Ann Mercer

Mercer, Lavella Ann 67, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 17, 2013. She was born in Los Lunas, NM on September 12, 1945 to C.C. and Bill Zimmerman. She was a life long resident of Socorro and many people will fondly remember her for her sharp wit. Lavella was a friend to any one she ever met. She loved to sew and quilt. Lavella loved roses, but didn't care so much for the yard work. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Maxine Thomas; and her brothers, Jack; Bob; and Tom Zimmerman. Lavella is survived by her devoted son, Mark L. Mercer of Socorro; her loving daughter, Shirley Perkins and husband, Eddie of Norwood, LA; her brother Larry Zimmerman and wife, Bev; her sister Janet Brown and husband, Benny; and many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and close friends. Lavella also enjoyed her granddaughter, Courtney Jennings; and two great-grandchildren, R.J.; and Koda Lee. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 12:00pm - 3:00 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 912 Leroy, Socorro.
