Lawrence “Larry” F. McGoldrick passed away on August 9, 2021 in Corrales, NM at the age of 85.
Lawrence is survived by children, Kerry Lyon and husband, Matt of El Paso, TX, Christopher McGoldrick of Manassas, VA, David McGoldrick and wife, Shelly Mack of Dunwoody, GA, Kilissa Cissoko and husband, Boubacar of Buffalo, NY, and Dan McGoldrick and wife, Debi Hulka of Downers Grove, IL; sister, Pat Kay of Metuchen, NJ; grandchildren, Mark Hartman, Katie Inkley (Scott), Emily Lyon (Kalub Kovar), Kevin Lyon, Soundioulou Cissoko, Fiona McGoldrick, Caleb McGoldrick, and Phoebe McGoldrick; great grandchildren, Maisie Clare Kovar. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Robinson McGoldrick; and his parents, Lawerence P. McGoldrick and Helena Frieda Seiffert.
Lawrence was born on November 10, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic High School in 1952. He attended Johns Hopkins University and graduated with a PhD in 1964. From 1965-1979 he worked at the University of Chicago, 1980-1982 he worked at NASA – Oceanic Process Branch, and from 1983-1989 he was part of the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory.
Lawrence was an accomplished food critic and blogger at “ABQ Top 10” and Yelp contributor. He was a generous individual who established the Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS). He pioneered internet database infrastructure for the Library of Congress, The United States House of Representatives, The Supreme Court and other governmental agencies. He was an active and dedicated member of The American Geophysical union, the American Meteorological Society, and the First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday August, 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm at First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque – 3701 Carlisle Blvd. NE Albuquerque, NM.
