Montano, Lawrence T. Age 84, passed away August 28, 2013 with loved ones by his side. He was born June 13, 1929 to the late Vicente and Annie Montano in Albuquerque, NM. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Alex Montano and Leo Montano; sisters, Stella Montano, Clara Duvall; sister-in-law, Romie Montano. Lawrence is survived by his brothers, Gilbert Montano and wife Ruby of Corrales, NM, Vicente Montano, Jr. of Algodones, NM; sisters, Helen Martinez of Sacramento, CA, Margaret Garcia of Albuquerque, NM, Esther Montoya of Albuquerque, NM, Dolores Baros and husband Billy of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Flora Montano; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom will miss their beloved uncle. Lawrence served in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska and Hawaii, honorably discharged in 1948. He was a barber by trade and also worked for the State of NM as a maintenance foreman taking care of the State Fair grounds for many years before retiring in 1991. Lawrence was a member of the American Legion Post 100, where he was known as Lucky Charm. Each year, his friends from the Legion would have a birthday party for him which he so enjoyed! Most Mondays, Lawrence would go with his brother, Gilbert and sister-in-law, Ruby, to breakfast and the casino which he always looked forward to. Lawrence also enjoyed watching football, especially when his team, the 49ers, were playing. Lawrence was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A Visitation will be held from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm with the recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 pm, on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at St. Therese Little Flower Church, 300 Mildred Avenue NW, Albuquerque, NM. A Memorial Service will be held at 9:00 am, Friday, September 6, 2013 at St. Therese Little Flower Funeral Church, 300 Mildred Avenue NW, Albuquerque, NM. Internment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Pallbearers will be Phillip Montano, Leo Montano, Kristopher Montano, Nathan Velasquez, Johnny Montano, and Johnny Baros. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Rael and Anthony Baros.
