Age 77, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014. She was born in Kharkov, Ukraine on June 23, 1937. Leah received her Master’s Degree in education at the University of New Mexico. She taught Hebrew, elementary, and English-as-a-second-language for 30 years. She was a member of Fellowship of the desert and the Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization. Leah was passionate in her support of Israel. She fought anti-Semitism and as a Holocaust survivor, worked to create awareness of an important historic event whose living population is rapidly dwindling. Leah's memory will live on through her generous contributions and efforts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Sichel; and son, Uzi Sichel. Leah is survived by her daughters, Orly Llana of Bishop, CA, Anat Sichel and husband Mike Robinson of Albuquerque, NM; son, Eitan Sichel and wife Terra of Seattle, WA; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service was held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Fairview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be given in Leah's honor to the Jewish National Fund at jnf.org or to Taglit-Birthright at birthrightisrael.com.
