Leon K Coffey

We lost Leon K. Coffey on August 28th, 2021. He was a wonderful husband, Dad, Grandad, family member, and friend. He passed peacefully from his earthly life at home with family. Leon was born in Farmington, New Mexico April 27th, 1938 to Odell and Julia Coffey. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Faith, on May 20th, 2021.  Leon and Faith were married for 63 years and loved each other dearly. He was also preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Allen Coffey. He was a member of Northeast Church of Christ and he loved his church family.

Leon is survived by his two brothers, Larry Coffey and Loyd Coffey and wife Cathy, daughters, Fonda Sanchez and husband Robert and Rayna Williams, and sons Rod Coffey and wife Anna, and Ned Coffey and friend Katrina Lason. His surviving grandchildren are Miranda Simmons, Yvonne Stevens, Brian Williams, Kayla Simmons and husband Kerry, Jason Sanchez, Camille Coffey, Luis Olague, and Jasmine Olague. His great grandchildren are Shania and Savannah Simmons, Jade and Trinity Stevens, Blair and Jett Simmons, Tinley Williams, and Santiago and Sebastian Olague.

Leon was a quiet man, sharp as a tack, who enjoyed time with his family. He loved fishing, camping, and enjoyed studying the stock market. He was a businessman, a handyman, and most of all: Faith’s man. He had a unique sense of humor and his family knew his funny faces and one-liners well. In fact, he was a bit of a trickster, and would hide your plate if you weren’t looking and was bad about slurping loudly about the time someone took a drink. He might do something like superglue a quarter to the ground and watch how many people would stop and try to pick it up. In spite of his quiet nature, he could be pretty ornery. He had that in common with Faith.

He most certainly will be missed; he was our rock and our leader.
