Leroy Felix Sanchez

Leroy F. "Huero" Sanchez, age 74, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020.  He attended West Las Vegas Schools and graduated from West Las Vegas High School.  He served our country in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged.  He attained a BA Degree in Elementary Education and a MA Degree in Education Administration, both from New Mexico Highlands University.  He worked for West Las Vegas Schools as an elementary teacher and served as Principal at Valley Elementary and Middle School (West Las Vegas Schools).  Leroy also served as Superintendent for the Mora Independent School District.  He was a successful business owner of Sanchez Sports in Las Vegas, New Mexico.  He served the City of Las Vegas, New Mexico as a councilman and as Mayor for one term.  He retired after serving as President of Luna Community College for several years.
