Leslie Tom

February 8, 1951 — January 16, 2011

Leslie Tom was born into the Water Edge People Clan for the Salt Water People Clan. Tom attended Chichiltah Day School, Roosevelt Elementary, Gallup, Intermountain Indian School, Brigham City, Utah and Southwest Indian Mission, Flagstaff. He worked with Chichiltah Chapter as a carpenter, silversmith in Gallup and BNSF for 25 years. He enjoyed being with family, friends and keeping people happy. Survivors include his wife, Esther D. Tom; sons, Fredson Tom of Pinedale, Philbert Tom of Vanderwagen, Lawerence Lee of Twin Lakes; step-sons, Jeffrey Begay, Presley R. Chiquito, both of Vanderwagen; daughters, Sarita Tom of Jones Ranch, Cynthia, Tasheena, Alyssa Tom, all of Vanderwagen, Viola Tom of Farmington; brothers, Frank Tom, Francey Tom, both of Vanderwagen, Roy Tom of Indian Wells, Ray Tom of Jones Ranch; sisters, Lilly Tom, Ella Mae Raphelito, Merita Tom, all of Vanderwagen; foster sister, Marilyn Skeet of Smooth Mountain; 16 grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Jane Tom; foster parents, Dol and Danasbah Wood; brother, Fred Tom. Pallbearers will be Presley R. Chiquito, Lawerence Lee, Shane Tsosie, Vernon David, Philbert Tom, Cynthia Tom. The family will receive relatives and friends at Two Wells Activity Hall, following services.
