May, Lila Ann
On Thursday, January 28, 2016 in Socorro, NM the Lord Jesus called Lila Ann May to share His glory in heaven. Lila was born on October 10, 1929, to Dee Andrew and Mamie Anna (Kunzie) Blooding in Eads, Co. where she attended school. In 1946 she married Harold Kregar and was blessed with five children. After Harold's death in 1989, Lila married Rev. Douglas May in 1994. Both the Kregar and May families met in 1959 in Leadville Co. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. After Lila and Doug's marriage at Grace Lutheran Church in Cheyenne Wells, Co. they made their home for a short time in Los Lunas, NM before moving to Socorro, NM in 1996. She leaves to mourn her passing, husband, Rev. Douglas May of Socorro; daughters, Bonnie Robinson of Colorado Springs, Co. and Brenda Butcher of Gaithersburg, MD. Lila is also survived by six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Lila is preceded in death by her parents; step father, John Swanner; brothers, Neal and Floyd Blooding; sons, Anthony and Jarold Kregar; and daughter, Constance Briggs. In 1973 Lila finished the Practical Nursing Class at Saint Luke's Opportunity School in Denver and worked at St. Luke's for a time. After Harold's retirement in 1977, Lila and Harold traveled over a period of ten years with Laborers for Christ helping congregations build churches in Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and Navajo and Cedar Crest, NM. Lila found joy in quilting and the friends she made at the Valencia Valley Quilters. Reading, gardening and canning also brought her a great deal of satisfaction. Lila was deeply appreciative of God's mercy, especially Christ's forgiveness. Wherever she lived she was an active member of a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod congregation. Lila was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Socorro and most recently a member of Christ the Lutheran Church in Los Lunas, NM. There will be a memorial service at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 700 Camelot Blvd., Los Lunas at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Christ the King Lutheran Church or Hope Lutheran Church. Hope Lutheran Church, Socorro is hosting a viewing on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the Epiphany Episcopal Church, 908 Leroy Pl, Socorro across from the New Mexico Tech library.
