Russo, Lily A. 90, passed away on October 21, 2012. She was the daughter of Italian Immigrants; born on August 7, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York. Lily grew up in Corona, a borough of Queens, New York, then came to Albuquerque in 1948. She married her husband of 61 years, Carmine J. Russo, Sr., on September 5, 1948. Lily spent many years working as a seamstress and at Simon&&s Western Wear and Uniform Store in downtown Albuquerque, until she retired in 1987. Lily had an unwavering dedication to her children and family, and had a great influence on all of them. She loved to have frequent family gatherings for home-cooked Italian food (the best in town!). Lily loved music, and would break into song at the drop of a hat. Lily was preceded in death by her husband, Carmine J. Russo Sr., her brother Al, and sisters Mary and Nancy. She is survived by her sister, Grace Brieskorn; four sons, L. John Russo and former spouse Kusum Prabhakar; Emmerson; Carmine, and spouse Jackie; and Al Russo; one daughter, Nancy Vigil, and husband, Frank. She also had eight grandchildren, Shawna, Sonia, David, Alyssa, Kayla and Dominick Russo; Eli Vigil and Adele Vigil Karoum. Great grandchildren are Chloe, Leila, and Noemi Karoum; and Samuel Vigil. She had many special friends in life, including several wonderful caregivers who helped her through her final years. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM.
