Linda Hughes Lamm, 82 of Albuquerque entered eternal peace on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years Ben Lamm, daughter Anita Spacagna and husband Ray, son Tim Lamm and wife Kimber, granddaughters Ashley McLelland and husband Shawn, and Brittney Lamm, as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn McLelland, Carter McLelland, Braxton Lamm and Carolina Lamm. Brothers, Warren (Marion) Hughes, Billy Ray (Betty) Hughes. Brother-in-law, Tony (Betty Jo) Lamm and sister-in-law Kay Lamm as well as numerous nieces, nephews and so many dear and close friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and John Bill Hughes. Siblings, Essie Mae Norman, Eddie Truesdale, brother-in-law Woody Lamm as well as nephew Brian Hughes.
She was born on July 14, 1942, in Pine Level, North Carolina to Dorothy and John Bill Hughes. Linda spent her early years attending Pine Level schools and graduated from Pine Level High School. She met her husband Bennet Braxton, and they were married December 22, 1959. Ben served 22 years in the military, and she was a devoted wife that took them to various places around the globe before settling down in Albuquerque after retirement in 1977.
Linda was the heart and soul of her family. She was known as “The General”. She always had a "I'll do it myself" attitude. She had a love for taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren and always made sure everyone was well fed and taken care of. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and quickly became the kitchen manager. Her strong will and determination helped her feed many people in the community. She was very proud of her time with MOWs.
Linda also known as Mrs. Linda or Nanny, had many adopted children and grandchildren in the neighborhood and she will be tremendously missed by all who knew her, but especially her family. Forever our wife, mother and Nanny.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 17, 2025, at 9:00 am at Daniels Funeral Home with an internment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
