It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Romo, a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and cherished member of the Albuquerque, NM, community. Linda passed away on September 16, 2024, at her home in Albuquerque at the age of 78.
Linda is survived by her five children: Katherine Ramirez (Jeffery Budzisz), Marcus Ramirez, Gilbert Ramirez, Sylvia Ramirez, and Melissa Ramirez; 11 grandchildren: Anthony, Taylor, Emma, Jonathan, Alyssa, Amber, Joshua, Matthew, Jonathan, Pete, Christy, and Dylan Budzisz; eight great-grandchildren and seven siblings. She is also survived by Melinda Garza (Michael Garza) and Bobby Perez (Delphie Perez), whom she raised as her own. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Lucas D. Romo and Maria Pillar Paez, Lupita Romo, and Margaret Romo Gomez.
Linda is originally from Houston, TX, where she grew up, and she lived in Denver, CO, for a few years before moving to Albuquerque, where she had a home in Edgewood. She was supported by her friends from the Edgewood community, who made sure they checked in on her from time to time and helped her with her home updates.
Linda cherished spending time with her family and children. She selflessly cared for her daughter Melissa Ramirez during the good and bad times as her commitment to ensuring she was cared for.
Linda was loved by everyone. She had a wonderful smile and loved to laugh. She had a business with her ex-husband and then became a phlebotomist later in life to help others. She loved to cook, dance, meet new people, and travel. She also loved a good burger.
Linda adored and supported all five of her children, as well as Melinda and Bobby Perez, who were part of the family. She enjoyed taking her children roller skating, out to parks, playing tennis at night, and going to the drive-in movies. Her children fondly remember when she would take them to the beach or spend time at the house on Keller Street, making lots of food and treating all the neighborhood children like they were her own. She treasured watching her children grow up and have children of their own.
Linda had a strong personality and was never intimidated by anyone. She never asked for charity. She worked hard for everything she had and was very proud. She was a strong, independent person who wanted to get things done, whether by herself or by sourcing out friends to help her. She was always positive and had a huge gleaming light of hope surrounding her.
Linda loved to garden. She loved azaleas, roses, and just spending time in the garden was therapeutic for her. She was also a great cook who never let anyone go home hungry.
Linda will never be forgotten, and she has made a huge impact on many lives.
