Loretta Ann Voss was born on July 27, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Isabelle Carroll Cortez. She was reared in Buffalo, New York, the sister of Alfred, Sherman, Kathy, Gerald, Deborah, Lawrence and Brenda Sue. During High School, she me the love of her life, the late George Daniel Voss, and they wed on March 14, 1959, in Buffalo, New York. Shortly after they wed, they moved to a small farm in Albion, New York where they raised five (5) children: Anthony Voss of Beijing, China, Delphine Reedy (Bradie) of Durant, Mississippi, Wanda Chiscolm of Las Vegas, Nevada, the late Robert Voss and Diane Voss of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. In 1983 Loretta moved to New Mexico. While living in New Mexico, she worked at UNM Hospital as a Telephone Operator. For many years she was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop D. C. Cooper, where she thrived as a Sunday School and Bible Study teacher. She later became a Deaconess at Community Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Marshall L. Smith where she continued her ministry up until falling ill in May of this year. God sent Loretta and her family here to be mother, grandmother, sister or friend to everyone who was blessed enough to meet her. Throughout her life, Loretta opened her heart and her doors to any and every one she met. As a result, her extended family grew over the years and today is too large to be listed here. She was Grandmother to LaBracha Mendoza (Manny), Celina Igwe (Christian), Ieasha Reedy, DiAngelo Varner, Deanne Varner, and Marcus Voss; Great Grandmother to Elgen and LaBron Mendoza, Isaac Saiz, Angelie Igwe and Eli Varner. She was fondly known as Gram to our closest friends. Loretta passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 surrounded by family and friends.
