Louis Lopez III

It is with great sadness and shock that we announce that beloved husband and father, Louis Lopez III, passed away on April 10, 2023. He was 62 years old and had no known health issues. He died unexpectedly in his sleep at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Louis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born on December 11, 1960, in Austin, Texas to Daniel Lopez and Rose Resendez. Like all Texas sons, Louis loved cooking BBQ and listening to music. Smoking a brisket and ribs for hours to feed his family was his favorite way to spend a sunny (or even sometimes a rainy) day. Louis got his amazing cooking ability from his mother, and he passed that love of cooking for family on to his children.  He loved going to concerts and always sang along in the car. His love of music started early in his life, playing trumpet in school, and later learning to play guitar. Sharing that love of music with his kids, who also play various musical instruments and enjoy live music as much as he did.

Louis is survived by his mother Rosie Flores (Sam Flores); brother Michael Resendez (Paula Resendez); wife of 31 years Marietta Lopez, as well as his children Christina (Lopez) Dunk (Christopher Dunk), Elizabeth Lopez, Louis Lopez (Rose Armijo), and Angelica Lopez (Matt Abousleman); stepsons Jarrod Gallegos (Taylor Sefranka), Jason Gallegos (Rebecca Gallegos), and Eric Gallegos, and 9 grandchildren Ava Gallegos, Noah Dunk, Sophia Gallegos (and mother Camille Walters), Olivia Dunk, Aidan Lopez-Armijo, Anthony Lopez-Armijo, Nolan Lopez-Armijo, Jade Gallegos, and Santiago Abousleman.

Louis will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We thank you for your prayers and condolences during this difficult time.

Open Visitation will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 11:00am to 12:00pm followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00pm at Daniels Family funeral Services. 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.

Burial will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at 1:30pm at Sunset Memorial Park. 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107
