Age 91 – OCEANPORT
Louis F. Palombo, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 15, 2017.
He was born in the Bronx, NY, and moved with his family to Long Branch during his teen years. Louis married Rita Dilger, the love of his life, in 1948 and they lived with their family in Oceanport for 33 years. Louis worked many years as a freelance wedding and baby photographer and was also employed for over 30 years at EAI, West Long Branch as a Cost Accountant. After they retired, Louis and Rita traveled throughout the U.S. for two years before settling down in Fries, Virginia for the next 15 years. Louis took great pride in cultivating a large garden on their property and sharing his produce with neighbors and the needy in his community. For the past 12 years, Louis has lived with family in Albuquerque, N.M.
Louis was predeceased by Rita, his wife of 61 years, and his parents, Raphael and Josephine Palombo. He is survived by his three sisters: Mary Juska, Inez Dudick, and Alice DeBartolis; many nieces and nephews; his children: Ralph Palombo, Joyce Ellis, Josephine Price, Margaret Fitzpatrick, Michael Palombo, Anna Marie Campos, Rita Coffern, Bill Palombo, Mary Anne Haskell, Ellen Frizalone, and their spouses; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 9, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Daniel’s Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd, NE, Albuquerque.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given to Wounded Warrior Project or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
