Lucia A. Chavez

Lucia A. Chavez, age 91, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016. She was born in Chilili, New Mexico on August 17, 1925, to Ignacio and Filomena (Montoya) Apodaca.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Chavez; son, Pete Chavez, and parents; Ignacio and Filomena Apodaca.

Lucia is survived by her daughter, Katherine T. Torres; son, Art Chavez; brothers, Daniel Apodaca and Phillip Apodaca; sisters, Eleanor Flynn, and Virginia Chavez; grandchildren, Sandra Hendricks, Rosa Hart, Renee Sanchez, Steven Chavez, Elizabeth Reinert, Jonathan Chavez, and Susan Chavez-Bullard; great grandchildren, Ashle Hendricks, Gabriel Romero, Travis Hart, Jessica Wike, Raymond Shaw, Caitlyn Hart, Abel Sanchez, Katie Sanchez, Tanner Hart, and Cruz Ramirez; great-great grandchild, Aiden Smith. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE Albuquerque.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 also at St. John XXIII.  A reception will follow the mass at the church.  Interment will be held at 2:15  p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
