Lucile Harding Horne

May 27, 1921 — October 21, 2012

Horne, Lucile Harding Age 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 21, 2012 at her home in Corrales, New Mexico. Born May 27, 1921 to Frederick and Georgia Harding, Lucileâ??s childhood was filled spending time with family in her native Oklahoma City, OK. Always generous and loving, young Lucile was known to offer a smile to everyone she met. Lucile loved to sing and sang often with her best friend at church. Every Sunday they could be heard on the radio. It was at the age of 10 that she first met Dwaine Horne, who upon meeting her proclaimed, â??Little girl, Iâ??m going to marry you some day.â?쳌 Indeed, the two united December 3, 1939, beginning Lucileâ??s 52 years as a faithful and loving wife. While Dwaine served his country in World War II, Lucile honored the nation as one of the original Rosie Riveters. In 1940 she was drafted by the Hollywood Allstars, cultivating her love for baseball. Together Lucile and Dwaine established their home and family in Newbury Park, California where they lived for 40 years. They welcomed three children, Sarah Lou, Edith LaWanna, and Frederick Randolph into the world. The three were everything to Lucile; her proudest achievements. Later in life, she spent much of her time blessing others with her creativity and artistic talents. Those closest to her have several pieces of her beautiful artwork adorning their homes during the holidays. Lucile moved to Corrales, NM seven years ago and enjoyed more than anything opening her home to friends and family from all over the world. Most days she could be found gazing at the beautiful view of Sandia Mountain with her faithful Boston Terrier, Baby, at her side. A wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Lucile leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and dedication to her family and friends. Above all, she loved and feared the Lord. Her loving and forgiving spirit were extraordinary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwaine Horne; her son, Frederick Randolph Horne; daughter, Edith LaWanna Horne Hendershot. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Lou Horne Dalton; sister, Rosemarie Harding Tipps; brother, Lee Roy Harding; Daughter in Law, LaDonna Miller. Lucileâ??s legacy also lives on through six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
