Cogburn, Lucille Etteinne was born in Slaton, Texas, on July 2, 1920, to James �Walter� and Essie Savell, and went to be with Jesus on June 16, 2014, at the age of 93. Lucille was raised on a cotton farm and attended a little country school for the first three grades. Then she went into Slaton, where she graduated from Slaton High School in 1938 as salutatorian. Lucille enrolled at Texas Technological College in Lubbock where she met Blanton Cogburn. Lucille graduated from Texas Tech on June 1, 1942 with honors and married Blanton on June 2, 1942. She was baptized into the Church of Christ and attended church for the rest of her life. When Blanton was drafted into the army in 1942, Lucille was able to get civil service jobs working in army hospitals. After being stationed in Colorado Springs, they built a home and a Help-Ur-Self Laundry. Then they added a dry cleaning service and found washers became an item in demand and started selling them. Their two children were born: Karren Kay in 1946 and Duane Blanton in 1948. The business was expanded into an appliance retail store with a new building in 1957. Lucille was very involved in the management and bookkeeping. She enjoyed planning and building a new home in 1958 along with her involvement in gardening, church activities and conservative politics. In 1967, Blanton and Lucille moved to Durango, CO, where they were semi-retired with a new home on 100 acres of farm land. In 1993 they retired to Sierra Vista, AZ, where their son Duane and family resided. Lucille enjoyed landscaping her new yard. When Blanton developed Alzheimer disease, Lucille devoted herself to taking care of him. The couple was able to celebrate 60 years of marriage before Blanton�s death in 2003. Lucille recently moved to New Mexico to be near family. Lucille is survived by her two children, Duane Cogburn of Moriarty, NM, and Karren Griess of Chandler, AZ, 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
